The Abhilasha Project & The Center for Global &
Community Service Partnership
November 2010- The Abhilasha Project is pleased to announce its Partnership with the Center for Global and Community Service at the University of Ottawa. Since 2009, the Ottawa Chapter of Abhilasha has been working with the Office through the Experiential Learning Service Program to offer students volunteer opportunities with the Abhilasha Project on campus. “Experiential learning takes students out of the classroom to actively apply their university studies to real world situations, and in ways that benefit the community and not-for-profit organizations.”1
“The Experiential Learning Service (ELS) offers two innovative and exceptional programs to facilitate active learning:
- Community Service Learning (CSL) directly links university courses to professor-approved volunteer positions for which students are evaluated on their demonstrated experiential learning.
- We will review the applications on a roll-on basis and successful applicants will be notified by
latest Tuesday, February 15th.
Application deadline: Friday, February 18th, 2011 at 4PM.
- The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) is an official university record of a student’s volunteer activities undertaken both on and off campus, so long as a minimum of 20 hours service is provided to an organization.”2
Students who complete a minimum of 20 hours of volunteer work with the Abhilasha Project will receive an official transcript issued by the University of Ottawa in recognition of their completed volunteer hours.
