On April 27th, 2007, the Marianopolis chapter of the Abhilasha Project held their very first Wake-a-thon Event. The fundraiser gathered more than 75 people at Marianopolis College for a sleepless night with lots of fun activities to keep everyone awake including a Magic Show by the Incredible Spidey, a DJ, an all-night buffet beginning at midnight, movies, games and much more…

The fundraiser raised over 5000$ exceeding the 3500$ goal the group had set for the night.

“One of her fundraising efforts included a Wakeathon, when 75 people gathered at Marianopolis for a sleepless night, courtesy of magicians, movies, a DJ, and midnight buffet. To participate in the event, each person had to raise a minimum of $30. One person collected over $400 in donations. Her next steps involve joint projects with the Mackay Centre and the Montreal Institute for the Blind.”
